It snowed...again...

I actually went out for a ride on my cross bike today. It was 14 degrees when I left. It was "fun".

The view heading back to Pullman while riding my bike.

The only living things I saw on the ride that did not give me a strange look.

The snow pile grows. Boo. It's turning into a replica of last years snow pile

I was thinking of using the grill at some point this winter....not sure if it will happen...

It's been cold and snowy the last few days. Is this winter worse than last years? It's too soon to say, but it will be a good competition. The snow pile has grown.
In some even more sad news...my snow pile is no longer number one on google images. Sort of sad. It's still in the top 10 though. That's pretty good, right?

F**K IT'S SNOWING AGAIN!!!

Yeah...more stupid snow. It's warmed up to a tropical-like 17 degrees. Another deep freeze will follow. On the bright side this winter is still better than last year's (so far).

I saw some dude slip and fall on his ass up on campus. It made me laugh. I need to laugh once in awhile, even it's at someone else's misery. I'm flawed individual. What can I say?

I saw another girl wearing full on make-up. Completely done up...wearing sweat pants and a matching sweat shirt/hoodie thing. She was not coming nor going to the gym. When did it become "fashionable" to wear sweats as regular clothing. It's not 1987 anymore people. Please let's move on. The real reason I bring her up is becuase of her skin. It did not look right at all. I would say it was "tan" (which is strange to see in Pullman, especially this time of year) but it really was not tan. She looked more like this picture.

Seeing her took away more short lived smile from seeing dude fall on his ass. Thanks fake tan chick. I hope you fall on your ass and rip your fancy sweats.

Stupid cold = old down jackets

It's flippin' cold outside. I finally have broken down and busted into a old down jacket that I probably have not warn since 1997. I look ridiculous. I can barely move my arms when I'm in it because it's so thick. At least I was warmer on my walk to work today. there is no end in site for the cold and tomorrow we are supposed to get more snow. Blech.

I say some one wearing a red bandanna around their mouth and face today. I fear that there may be a train robbery on the Palouse tonight...

The first snow pile of winter 2008/2009

Yup, there it is. It’s small, but it is only day one. I shoveled and, of course, another 2 or 3 inches have dropped since then. It’s only 18 degrees right now and it’s going to get colder. We are supposed to have the coldest weather we’ve had since 2004. Oh joy.

The purpose of this blog was to document the huge ass snow pile that accumulated last year. This year I’m just going to document how much I hate winter. Here’s an interesting tidbit. If you type “snow pile” in Google images a picture from this blog is the first image that comes up. How cool is that?

Sit back and enjoy my misery and watch the snow pile grow (and eventually die).

I have no idea why or how people enjoy the snow. Maybe I shall learn to enjoy it one day. Maybe…

DAMN!!!

Crap. Winter has returned which means the snowpile will return. I'll be updating this site a bit differently this year. I'll document the misery that is a Pullman winter. More later today...I promise...

props to Non Sequiter

Martha sent me this comic. Classic. I love it!!!

It's May and you can still see some small snow piles in the fields around here. Stupid winter.

This is pretty much the end. It's almost sad. Almost...

March 7, 2008

I'm not sure if the snow pile will make it past this evening. As I write this it is 55 degrees outside with sun. It will be gone for sure by tomorrow. It looks like most people voted for March 7-12 for the snow pile to be gone and well, it will be. I can't believe that I've been doing this for a month now.

In other news...our damn sink blew up this morning in our kitchen. I'm sitting here waiting for the plumber now. Not too happy about that...

March 6, 2008

That stupid ass snow pile is still hanging around. I've been doing this blog for a month and two things amaze me. First the pile is still here and second...I've actually been able to maintain this blog everyday.

Both things are amazing.

If you look closely you can see my shadow pulling a Dick Bennett and giving the pile (and winter in general) the bird.

March 5, 2008

The little snow fall we had the other day is gone. Another high pressure system has moved in and we have yet another beautiful clear and sunny day on the Palouse. The snow pile should be gone by Sunday. Then it will be another month and half until the city comes and sweeps up all the damn gravel they threw down on the street. Why the hell they can't just use road salt is beyond me.

March 4, 2008

I really hate snow. Did you know that? I loathe it I really do. All day yesterday we had the dreaded "wintry mix"...but it was no big deal since there was no accumulation. I drove up to Spokane late last night to get Allison who was returning from Paris (France, not Illinois). It was windy but no big deal. We go home sometime after midnight and it was spitting some small flakes. Next thing we knew it was dumping snow. Stupid ass snow...

It better be gone by this afternoon so I can ride outside or I'll be pissed.

What does this snowfall do for the snowpile? It probably extends it's life by a day or two. Damn pile...

March 3, 2008

A typical miserable windy, wet, sleety, snowy, and rainy Spring day on the Palouse. Bonus pic today since the snowpile is about gone.
On another note...can you actually beleive I have been documenting this?

March 2, 2008

Is this the week that the snow pile dies? It looks like it will. The snow pile has become a shadow of its former self...something I can relate to...

March 1, 2008

It's March. It rained a little last night but more importantly it was in the 50s again. Look at the pile! It's nearly gone! A low pressure system has moved in though so the weather is a bit cooler and a lot windier. It is only March 1st so I guess I should not complain.

February 29, 2008

Happy leap year. I'm so stoked we have an extra day this year. It was as warm as 55 degrees yesterday with a lot of sun. Very nice. The pile is slipping away into the storm drain. It's a thing of beauty.

On another note (which will mean nothing to most of you) I set my PR on Wawawaii yesterday.

February 28, 2008

It' going to be over 50 today and even warmer tomorrow. This will lead to the quick demise of the snow pile. Thank God. There is still a fair amount of snow out there. This morning while walking "dog" I fell on my ass on a snowy/icy part of a trail. Not really "dog's" fault. I put the blame on snow.

February 27, 2008

The snow pile is disappearing right before my own eyes. It's quite amazing to see how much leaves everyday. The pictures for the next few days are going to be a little different since I am using Allison's camera since she took mine with her to Paris.

The South Fork of the Palouse is HUGE right now! Thank God we did not have any rain a few weeks ago (Pineapple express type rain) otherwise Pullman would have flooded for sure.

February 26, 2008

I was up in Spokane this morning and there was the dreaded "ice fog" hanging around up there. This has nothing to do with the Snow Pile...I just wanted to bring up the ice fog. It's strange stuff. I really never had to deal with it when I lived in Illinois.

February 25, 2008

We finally have a little bit of rain. The rain is really hammering away on the snow pile. It's gone down a couple of inches in the last day. The rain is good for leaing the streets off as well. It's been getting very dusty around here as of late since it has been so dry.
In other news...our yard is basically a giant field of mud. What sucks about it is the hound gets very muddy every time he goes out. He, of course, wants to show me how muddy he is and makes sure to place his paw on my shirt or jeans. Stupid dog...

February 23, 2008

Late post today. I had other things to do today...like walk the dog since Allison's back is so bad and go out and enjoy the beautiful day by riding 80 miles.

Grass is now visible at the base of the snow pile. Sweet!

February 22, 2008

Wow...what a great morning. It seemed a lot warmer this a.m. The temps barely dipped below freezing last night which means the black ice was almost non-existent this morning on my walk to work.

I wonder what my neighbors think of me taking pictures every morning of a snowpile. Hell, I wonder what I am doing...
